Beloved Disciple
I am currently in a bible study and we are studying the life of the disciple John. I have loved reading the gospels again but now through the eyes of John. I am reminded of the types of people chosen by Jesus to have such a profound impact. A question came up that challenged me and I thought it might also challenge any of you who happen to read our blog. "How can we behold what we are unwilling to see?" John remained by Jesus through his death and looked upon as his hero, his future, his leader, and the love of his heart was hung on a cross and crucified. John was willing to look when others closed their eyes and he beheld Christ. Anyone with eyes willing to truly behold Jesus will at times be confused and shocked by what he/she sees. I believe John's heart was completely broken and at the time life seemed shattered. At times I have a tendency to experience a small portion of brokenness and dreams in my mind that have been altered by the way I think things should go. I doubt and question what God is doing in my life when I truly don't understand the loss people experience or the pain and suffering around us. BUT today God asked me "What will I do when I can't explain what Jesus is doing?" Will I continue to doubt and question? Will I desire to walk away when he doesn't stop a tragedy? OR will I be like John and behold my Savior and stand by faith when human logic says to run?
